Why the foot and not the entire himself!!!!!????

I had a point to ponder, recently when I heard to a song melodiously recited by Sri Putturu Narasimha Nayak. The song was related to the lord of "Maryada", Sri Ramachandra. This devotional song was composed by the lesser known among the dasas Sri Vithaladasa. Sri dasa is offering his request with lord Sri Ramachandra to show his divine  foot to him. Then I started thinking and pondering over why this Dasa had asked to have a sight of the lotus feet of Rama an not the entire Maryada Purushottama. Before any further deliberation, let us listen to the song through the link attached.

When 'Devottama Paramapurusha Jagatguru Sri Krishna' showed his Vishwaroopa to Arjuna, Sri Krishna provided a divine sight to Arjuna, not only to have the view of his infinite roopa but also to bear the enormous amount of energy emanated from the powerful soul of Krishna, or otherwise, Arjuna might have gone blind.  And with the fear of becoming blind, this humble dasa might not have dared to ask for the darshan of the whole body of the lord and restricted himself and equally restricted his demand with the lord to provide only a small look of his lotus feet only and rightly he said- " Sri Rama ninna padava toro" and never asked for more.

The lord being the lord of time obviously has the capacity of bringing life back even in a dry wooden log. Sri Rama along with his brother was undergoing article ship under the guidance of guru Vishwamitra on 'Astra, Shastra and other arts'.One day while walking along the forest, they saw a huge human shaped stone which was of Ahalya Devi who had got turned into a stone on account of a curse from her husband and lord Sri Rama touches the stone with his foot. And Ahalya gets back her life!.. The foot of Sri Rama is powerful and which is also full of eternal energy and rightly capable of converting  a mortal being to an immortal being. The Dasa rightly decided to have a look of those feet which are undoubtedly worthy a salute and worthy worship. And therefore, he prayed " Sri Rama ninna Padava Toro".

The mokey worriors of Sri Rama constructed a huge bridge across  the sea from Rameshwaram to Lanka. Th boulders and the other materials used for construction, floated on the sea waters despite the huge ups and downs in the waves of the sea, sherely on the account of the grace showered by Sri Rama and the monkeys were in an utter surprise with this magical event! However, being monkeys they had a little narrow thinking and had a doubt in their mind that the bridge may immerse into the water when they would walk on it. But not expressing the doubt, Sugreeva honored Sri Rama with a request to keep the first step on the bridge. Because, Sugreeva was pretty well knowing that once Rama walks, the entire universe can walk behind him. Sri Rama smiled and started walking over the bridge. The divine touch made the bridge strong and further fortified and not even an inch of the bridge neither shook, nor went down by an inch. Now one can imagine that why this Dasa is repeatedly asking to have a look of this miraculous and charismatic feet of Sri Rama.

When Sri Rama was on exile, Bharata established the Padukas of Sri Rama on the throne and ruled Ayodhya for fourteen long years. Being a brother, Baharata was fully aware of the fact the padukas which protected the protector's feet is more powerful than himself. Hence, he established Padukas. Meaning thereby, Bharata also wanted to have a shelter near the lotus feet of Lord Sri Rama.

If we go deep into Bhagavata and other mythological literature, we can understand how these feet only protected Dharmas and destroyed the evils of the society. It is the same feet which pushed King Bali to the Patala. It is the same feet which saved Arjuna from the Sarpaastra of Karna. It is the same feet which made Dhuryodhana to fall from his throne. It is the same feet worshiped not only by human beings, but also by thousands and thousands of devatas. And our dear Sri Ranga Vithala dasa. Rightly and rightfully requested Sri Rama to give the divine darshan of his lotus feet.

Let Mahamahima Sri Rama bless us with robost prosperity and happiness on the happy occasion of Sri Rama Navami. Let us together offer our prayer to Daasharathi Raghuveera Sri Ramachandra for the welfare of the entire human beings.
